How To Use MailChimp With WordPress Via a Plugin

WordPress is a great platform because of the amount of ways you can use it to market your ideas to the world. You can share your articles via social media and you can easily build up your email list by integrating your WordPress Website with MailChimp which provides you with up to 2,000 free email subscribers before you have to pay.

Email Marketing is an important part of a Blogger’s and Digital Content Marketers efforts to ensure that traffic is continuously flowing to their website. While search engine optimization and social media marketing are important as well, email marketing to those who have already shown an interest in reading your content by signing up with an email signup form, is by far one of the best strategies you can use to keep people updated on your latest blog post.

How To Integrate MailChimp and WordPress

First thing you will need to do is log into your WordPress Website. Then in the admin sidebar on the backend, hover over plugins and then add new. From there, you will search for the Plugin called Mailchimp for WordPress. It should be the first option you see listed.

As of this writing, it’s active on over 900,000 WordPress Websites and has near perfect reviews. Install, then activate the plugin.

Once activated, you will see a link in your admin sidebar titled Mailchimp for WP. Click on that and it will take you to your settings page. From there you will see it says you’re not connected to your mailchimp account.

What you need to do now, is go to your Mailchimp dashboard and in the upper right corner, click on your account name and then the link titled account. From there you will go to link titled Extras and in the drop down menu select API Keys. You should then see your API Key. Copy it to your clipboard and go back to your WordPress website in the Mailchimp Settings page. Paste in your API Key and save.

Then you will see all your lists that you have from Mailchimp. From there, click the Other link in the submenu for Mailchimp for WP. Make sure you have no errors. Then click on the Integrations link and see if you have another plugin that it can integrate with.

Then click the Forms link and create your new form. It’s easy to do, all you have to do is give it a name, choose the list fields and click on them to be placed in the large text area in the bottom. Make sure your cursor is in the right location for the field to be inserted. Then save your form.

You can then click the Messages Tab and customize the messages, then save. Take a look at the Settings Tab and finally you can choose a theme for your form in the Appearance tab.

Add The Mailchimp form to a Page, Post or Widget

Once your form is created and saved, you can click the tab titled Get Shortcode and copy the shortcode. Now you can paste it in an available widget area or on any page or post that you want it to display on.
